Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the music world. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was produced by a trio of producers and composers. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The team running the project have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is primarily making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
