Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
