Manchester United Poised to Secure Germany Forward Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are finalising completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.
A Marquee Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, is known as a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a major signing for the Women’s Super League team.
Departure from Bayern has been anticipated since she appeared to be holding back emotions while thanking the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in late December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading forwards. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the move have now been completed.
Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a significant uplift to the team's forward line. Schüller has been highly reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when United appear to be gathering momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official stated: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
