Sam Fender has given the full amount of his £25k award cash to the MVT, which operates to save the Britain's independent concert spaces.

The star was presented with the award on mid-October as his third album the album was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.

He has chosen to hand the money over to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots fulfilled in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the shows I performed around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," stated the artist. "These locations are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – about one-sixth of the total UK scene.

Over the past year, top acts including Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Fender also joined in, raising more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support thirty-eight local spots across the UK.

These funds helped locations that were dealing with potential shutdown due to challenges arising from water damage, blazes and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations obtained funding support in improving amenities and gear that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.

"The concept that revenue from performances in big venues supports the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just common sense," the star has said.

The musician is far from the only musician to donate his honor winnings to worthy causes.

When they earned the prize in 1996 for their album Different Class, lead singer Cocker declared that the act would contribute their winnings to the organization War Child.

During 2002, musician the artist split her bounty across several charities, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite explained to the media.

Two years ago, the band contributed their prize money to the youth organization that nurtured their act, in addition to other independent music bodies.

And the 1994 recipients they contributed their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the illness.

"The victory was quite enough," stated artist Heather Small. "The money was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT shared it had rescued several small stages in that region, by placing them under community ownership.

The Joiners in that area and The Croft in Bristol were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by the arts council and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the venues.
