Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position after another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
