Supporters Urge Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the pop star are calling for that a individual who breached a barrier and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip depicts the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and charging at Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile features clips of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Fans Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned security officers at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-part adaptation of the well-known theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two very different witches.
The show itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen Oscar nominations, earning several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
