The former Liverpool manager states a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included continental glory and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and as an advisor with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won the league title in the previous campaign, though countless followers who revere Klopp would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he explained to his interviewer: “I declared I won't manage any other side on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine in a few years, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on the specific conditions must arise to tempt his return to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be during downpours for lengthy sessions; No need for interviews multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently great spirits at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that won the league last term. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, superb talent. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in during his tenure, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The Portugal international was killed in a car crash alongside his brother in July.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the team environment absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Coping with it individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
