The Two Fatalities Identified in the Providence Campus Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Manhunt for Killer.

The pair of scholars who died in Saturday’s mass shooting in Providence were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow publicly, stating: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a raid at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and schoolmates and grieve for of his bright future.”
