Three-time Most Valuable Player Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 at the Heat.
The star player sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half in an inadvertent contact with fellow Nugget Spencer Jones.
The other player stepped on the footwear of the big man, who promptly went down to the ground grabbing his leg.
The star, who is leading the league season in boards and assists, posted 21 points and eight dimes in the contest prior to incurring the injury.
The player will have an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.
"Right away, Jokic realized there was a problem," said Nuggets coach David Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Any player who suffers an injury, it's difficult, most notably somebody as special as Jokic. We will know more on Tuesday."
"We'll move on together. Clearly, right now, I'm more worried about him personally and the letdown of experiencing an event like that."
